NASA news: The space agency just shared the most breathtaking picture of Earth from space - Express.co.uk

's photo was taken some 250 miles (402km) above the planet’s surface in low Earth orbit (LEO). The space picture shows the Sun’s golden glow falling over the island nation of Indonesia southeast Asia. The International Space Station orbits the planet at an incredible 17,500mph an hour. At these speeds, the orbital laboratory completes an orbit of the Earth roughly every 90 minutes.

The US agency said: “Imagine having a view like this every day.

“The Sun’s glint beams off the Celebes Sea in southeast Asia as the ISS flies 255 miles above Indonesia.

“Astronauts aboard the space station take advantage of importunes to make Earth science observations that help us better understand our dynamic planet.”

On Twitter, the space agency also described the ISS view as a “peaceful scene”.
